4th IDSC Conference on Epistemologies of Disability at AMU on Feb 22-23
Aligarh : The Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Indian Disability Studies Collective (IDSC) will jointly organise the 4th International IDSC Conference on Epistemologies of Disability at AMU on February 22-23, 2024.
The inaugural session will begin at 9:30 am at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Social Science, which will feature welcome address by Prof Mohammad Asim Siddiqui, Chairperson, Department of English, AMU, opening remarks by Prof Someshwar Sati, Chairperson, IDCS, introduction to the concept note by Ritwick Bhattacharjee, Treasurer, IDSC, address by Prof Manvendra Kumar Pundhir, Head of Disability Unit, AMU, address by Prof Arif Nazir, Dean, Faculty of Arts, and report on IDSC by Dr. Mukul Chaturvedi, Secretary, IDCS.
Prof Mohammad Gulrez, VC, AMU will preside over the inaugural session. A movie dedicated to the academic and social worker Dr Tassaduq Hussain will also be screened on the occasion.
According to Dr. Sidhartha Chakraborti, Conference Convener, the two day conference will have keynote address by Prof Shilpa Das, Vice Chairperson, IDSC and Professor of interdisciplinary design studies, NID, Hyderabad, special online lectures by Prof Dan Goodley, Professor of disability studies and education at University of Sheffield, UK, and Prof Lennard Davis, Professor of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago, a round table discussion and special lecture on disability and academia by Hemchandran Karah from DOHSS, IIT Madras.
This conference is dedicated to the inspiring figure of Prof Tassaduq Hussain, an academic and social worker who died recently.
