50 Caltech Students, Nine Alumni chosen for NSF Research Fellowships
This year, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has selected 50 current Caltech students and nine recent undergraduate alumni to receive its Graduate Research Fellowships. Those selected for a fellowship will receive support for three years of graduate study in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in science or engineering.
The Graduate Research Fellowships Program (GRFP) is part of the NSF’s strategy to develop a workforce necessary to ensure the nation’s leadership in advancing science and engineering. The selection criteria used to identify NSF fellows reflect the potential of the applicant to advance knowledge and benefit society.
Caltech’s awardees for 2023 are seniors James Bowden, Hannah Xian Chen, Kaila Coimbra, Tyler Colenbrander, Miles Cua, Isabel de la Torre Roehl, Elia Gorokhovsky, Alexandra Julia Haraszti, Alexandria Hong, Beryl Hovis-Afflerbach, Jenny Ji, Abigail Jiang, Sara Kangaslahti, Shalini Kurinchi-Vendhan, Laura Limin Lewis, Anna Li, Mohini K. Misra, Lorenzo Shaikewitz, and Aiden E. Swann.
Caltech graduate students in this year’s class are: David Abramovitch, Simon Anuszczyk, Sarah Balderston, Eli Nathaniel Baum, Michael Anne Bolene, William David Chen, Carter Karl Cocke, Adrian Colazo, Ryan M. Caltech alumni selected this year are Noah Barnes (BS ’22), Rohan Choudhury (BS ’19), Sanjana Kulkarni (BS ’21), Jina Lee (BS ’22), Tara Porter (BS ’21), Sydney Richardson (BS ’22), Andrew Rothstein (BS ’21), Ryan White (BS ’21), and Eric Zhao (BS ’20).
