Ural Federal University Advances Digital Services Development

UrFU continues to develop as a digital university. The Directorate of Information Technologies together with the University’s departments is launching more and more services that speed up and facilitate many processes at the university. You can find out what is new over the last year in the latest issue of the Ural Federal newspaper (No. 7 of April 15).

Scientific Events Portal

In October 2023, on the initiative of the Department of Youth Science and Organization of Scientific Events, a new service “UrFU Scientific Events Portal” was launched. Its goal is to unite information about the events held at the university on one website. This allows the largest possible audience to learn about university forums, conferences, and competitions on time. The service provides information exchange between the participants and organizers, allowing to reduce labor and time costs for generating reports of different levels.

Since its launch, the portal has been visited by 7338 users, and 106 events have been created, including 45 events approved by the moderator for publication. 1,236 people registered as participants, of which 791 were unique.

Project Management

An information system for project management “Priority-2030” was created, which helps to monitor success in achieving indicators.

For example, functionality was added to work with outstanding results and to generate an annual report on the development program taking into account strategic projects. The indicators of development program projects included in strategic projects and digital transformation policy have been unified.

In addition, the digital passports of the development program projects have been improved in terms of planning the milestones of project implementation and collecting reports on them. The functionality of all projects’ coordination for publication in mass media and automatic publication of news based on data on milestones in the system and on the portal 2030.urfu.ru was added.

Partner’s personal account

In turn, the functionality of interaction between the university, partner organizations, and students in the partner’s personal account is steadily improved.

For example, the functionality of meeting creation in the service “Interaction of Project Teams and Project Reporting”  has been expanded: the selection of participants, venue, and display of overlap with students’ and teachers’ schedules have been added. Created meetings are published in the students’ and teachers’ academic schedules. Notifications on the key stages of project implementation are sent to the chatbot “Project Learning Assistant” in Telegram.

In 2023, 859 users from partners got access to the service, 223 new contracts were concluded, 1579 approved project passports from partners, and 262 projects with supervisors from the core organization. 5,722 student teams were created to implement projects, in which 26398 students participated.

“UrFU. Study”

The mobile application for students “UrFU. Study”. Now it is possible to check in the services “Project Based Learning” and “Digital Departments” through the application.

It is now possible to view up-to-date information about the types of practice planned in the semester, and the priority of enrolling in practice at the enterprise has been adjusted in the “Practice” service.

The “About Master’s Degree” section includes information about Master’s degree programs and provides an opportunity to ask questions; a guest login has been added. The sections “News”, “About the University” and “About the Master’s Program” are available for guests.

Level of achievements

A new service “Level of individual achievements of scientific and pedagogical staff” has been developed. It is necessary for the formation of the rating of scientific and pedagogical staff after summarizing the results of the fulfillment of the indicators of the main effective contract.

In the “Rating of the most effective” section you can see the top 30 employees by university, top 20 by activity areas, top 30 for each institute, as well as the rating of young (up to 39 years old) employees.
