6- day STRY Training program concludes at KVK Bandipora

 

BANDIPORA : A six days long Skill Training on Rural Youthon “Quality Seed Production of Cereal Crops” concluded at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bandipora today.

The programme was sponsored by MANAGE Hyderabad in collaboration with SAMETI Directorate of Extension SKUAST Kashmir under the chairmanship of Director Extension Prof. Dil Muhammad Makhdoomi. Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir, Prof J.P Sharma was the chief guest while as other officers who attended the meeting included Prof. J. P. Sharma and Prof. Sarfaraz Wani, Director Research SKUASTJ Jammu and Kashmir respectively and Prof. Masood Saleem Mir, Associate Director Extension SKUAST Kashmir. Dr. Tariq Sultan, Coordinator of the training programme briefed the guests about the accomplishments of the training programme.

At the outset, the Vice Chancellor quoted examples of the Padam Shri awardee farmers to the rural youth under training and advised trainees to work hard in getting entrepreneurship in different training areas they have opted for. He lauded the role of KVK Bandipora team in arranging such training program for rural youth. Prof. Dil Muhammad Makhdoomi, Programme Coordinator & Director Extension introduced some outstanding champion farmers of the area affiliated with KVK Bandipora who gave their significant achievements. Some of the role model champion farmers have been awarded by different Government agencies in many platforms at national and regional levels.

VC directed the concerned to organize a champion farmer’s conference at SKUAST Shalimar campus.

Later on the certificates were distributed among the rural youth who completed the training. A parallel six months long program in cutting & tailoring is being undertaken in the Kendra for rural girls.
