69th All India Cooperative Week Celebrations held at Kulgam

ANANTNAG : On the eve of 69th All India Cooperative week, Cooperative Deptt District Anantnag and Kulgam in collaboration with the Cooperative Societies of both the districts today jointly organized a seminar to highlight the achievements of cooperative sector in the districts and to generate cooperative awareness among general public to mark the opening day of 69th All India Cooperative Week celebrations.

The function was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Riyaz Ahmad Sofi as Chief Guest, while Additional Registrar Cooperative societies Kashmir, Bilkeesa Jan attended function as Guest of Honour; Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies among others addressed the gathering on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the ADDC stressed upon the need of inculcating democratic value systems in the cooperative societies. He further mentioned how Cooperatives should be infused with energy so that they can utilise the goodwill that they have amongst the public to strengthen the rural economy.

Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies highlighted the objective of organising cooperative week celebrations.

Speaking on the main theme of day “Ease of Doing Business for Cooperatives, GeM and Export Promotion”, she highlighted how the Department has been working hard to usher in Ease of Doing Business through online registration of new cooperatives.

She further talked about the efforts that Govt is putting in to register Cooperatives on GeM portal so that they can reap the benefits of various trade avenues like e-auction, reverse e-auction etc. She informed the gathering that the Govt is in the process of registering various MPCS’ on this portal. She also exhorted the District Administration to handhold the cooperative societies being registered in the district so that they can rise to their true potential.

Deputy Registrar Kulgam, Abdul Salam Dar, while highlighting the achievements of the cooperative sector mentioned that the Cooperative Societies in the district registered a total business turnover of Rs 6.96 crore till the month of October 2022. He also highlighted that the newly registered dairies recorded a business turnover of 1crore 9 lakh in the initial half of the current fiscal year.

The function concluded with the distribution of certificates of excellence among the outstanding cooperative performers of the District.

Among others, the function was attended by the representatives of allied departments, Assistant Registrars, field functionaries and members of Cooperative Institutions of both Districts.
