70 Students flagged-off from Shopian for UT level competitions
Shopian: The District Administration Shopian headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Shopian, Shahbaz Ahmad today flagged off a group of 70 students for a games tour to Samba, Kathua, Poonch and Jammu.
These students belong to different schools of the district and include both girls and boys contingent. They are scheduled to play Inter District State level Volleyball under 14 and 19 years, cricket under 17 years for boys and all age groups for Sqay martial art for boys and girls matches.
Speaking at the occasion, ACR said that sports are the basic element that helps students to grow physically. He urged upon the student community to always take interest in sports, apart from their curricular activities.
He also asked the District Youth Services and Sports Officer to arrange more and more such tours, so that students from every area of the district could get a chance to visit other parts of the country.
Among others, DYSSO Shopian, Gurmukh Singh Dutta, District Information Officer, Shopian Showkat Ahamd Khan and other employees of the DYS&S office besides parents and relatives of these students were present on the occasion.
