The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, a member of the Supervisory Board of the UrFU Evgeny Kuyvashev notes that the work on the creation of the REC is quite fruitful in the region.

“It is important that our industrial enterprises, both large and small, have been working in cooperation for quite some time,” says Yevgeny Kuyvashev. – This also applies to space issues, and railway engineering, and mechanical engineering in general, and the processing of non-ferrous metals, as well as the production of high-tech products from them, and so on. The already established cooperative ties between the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions are giving results today, there is a product. Of course, binding the work that we are doing with an additional scientific framework will make it more effective and more interesting. “

In total, REC portfolio includes 42 projects, of which four are classified as breakthrough projects. In addition, it is planned to actively use advanced digital technologies, both in the implementation of REC projects and for personnel training.”

The plan to create a network of 15 world-class research and educational centers were previously reflected in the May decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and are one of the tasks of the national project “Science”. According to the goals of the national project, in 2024 Russia should become one of the five leading countries in the world carrying out research and development in areas determined by the priorities of scientific and technological development. Attractive conditions should be created for Russian and foreign leading scientists, as well as young promising researchers, to work in the Russian Federation; increased internal costs for research and development.

Ural Federal University is one of the Russian leading universities, ‘5-100 Project’ participant, located in Ekaterinburg — the capital of 2023 FISU World University Games.
