JMI to organize online Lecture on ‘Immune Memory: Remembering your Infections and Vaccines’ by US based world renowned vaccine expert and immunologist Dr Rafi Ahmed

The Department of Biotechnology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is organizing a lecture
on ‘Immune Memory: Remembering your Infections and Vaccines’ by Dr. Rafi
Ahmed, Director, Emory Vaccine Centre, Atlanta, USA on 4th December 2020, 6 PM IST as part
of centenary year celebrations of the university.
Dr. Rafi Ahmed is Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar and Director, Emory Vaccine Centre, Atlanta, USA. Dr. Ahmad is Charles Howard Candler Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology of Emory University School of Medicine.

A member of the National Academy of Science USA, Dr. Ahmed is a world-renowned
immunologist whose work during the past decade has contributed immensely in understanding the mechanisms of B and T cell immunological memory and development of vaccines for different diseases including COVID-19.

Dr. Ahmed is the recipient of the 2017 Robert Koch Award and Award for Distinguished
Research in the Biomedical Sciences from the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Prof. Najma Akhtar, vice Chancellor, JMI shall be the Chief Guest and Prof. Seemi Farhat Basir, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, JMI will be the Special Guest.
The program will be convened by Prof. Zahid Ashraf, Head, Department of Biotechnology, JMI.
