Punjab Government decided to accord CUPB faculty Prof. H.S. Pannu with ‘Shiromani Punjabi Gyan Sahitkar Award’
Bathinda: The Punjab Languages Department of the Government of Punjab has decided to accord Prof. Harpal Singh Pannu, Chair Professor, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Chair at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda with ‘Shiromani Punjabi Gyan Sahitkar Award’. With this prestigious award, Prof. H.S. Pannu will soon be awarded a Certificate of Honour and an amount of Rs 5 Lakhs from the Punjab Government for his outstanding contribution in the field of Punjabi Literature.
CUPB Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari congratulated Prof. Harpal Singh Pannu for bringing laurels to CUPB. He mentioned that Prof. H.S. Pannu is an acclaimed academician who has written more than 20 books to promote Punjabi Language, Literature & Culture, and this award is the recognition of his invaluable contribution. Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, the Registrar, complimented Prof. H.S. Pannu on this remarkable achievement. He added that Prof. Pannu has made our university proud and his accomplishments will always motivate our faculty & students to set new milestones in the field of literature.
During his illustrious academic career of over 40 years, Prof. H.S. Pannu has been conferred with many awards. Before joining CUPB, he served Punjabi University Patiala for more than 30 years and retired as Professor of Comparative Religions and Dean Research. He is the founder-director of UGC Centre for Guru Nanak Studies & UGC Centre for Buddhist Studies at Punjabi University Patiala. He is the visiting professor of various Universities such as University of Religious Studies, Qom (Iran); Nav Nalanda University, Patna; Delhi University, Delhi; and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
