National Lok Adalat held at Kathua
Kathua: A National Lok Adalat was today held here in the premises of District Court Complex Kathua under the overall supervision of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Kathua.
Two benches were constituted to settle the cases. First Bench comprised Pawan Dev Kotwal, Pr. District & Sessions Judge and Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Addl. District & Sessions Judge Kathua. Second Bench consisted of Yashpal Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua and Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Munsiff JMIC Kathua.
A total of 285 cases were taken up, out of which 32 cases were settled, including 7 MACT cases, 5 Civil suits, 7 Criminal compoundable cases, 6 Petitions U/s 488crPc, 1 complaint u/s 138 NI Act, 6 Pre-litigation bank cases.
A compensation worth Rs 21,05,000 was awarded in the MACT cases, and a Recovery of Rs 1,58,000 was also made in favour of the Banks.
Meanwhile, Lok Adalats were also organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committees Hiranagar, Basholi, Bani and Mahanpur.
