Topical issues of technology education in modern conditions: from discussion to action!
The interregional online conference “Topical Issues of Technological Education in Modern Conditions” was held on December 11 at the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of PetrSU. The conference is organized by the Department of Technology, Fine Arts and Design in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia.
More than 150 technology teachers, university professors and researchers from the Petrozavodsk, Kostomuksha urban districts, Prionezhsky, Olonetsky, Pitkyarantsky, Muezersky, Kemsky, Pudozhsky, Suoyarvsky, Medvezhyegorsky districts of our republic took part in the conference. The conference was attended by representatives of 15 regions of Russia, in particular, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chita, Saratov, Tula, Chelyabinsk, Novgorod, Oryol regions, as well as neighboring countries (Belarus, Uzbekistan).
The participants discussed the most topical issues of the content and teaching methods of the educational area “Technology” of the general education school and the problems of improving teacher training in the context of the implementation of the National Project “Education”, as well as the Concept of teaching the subject area “Technology” in educational organizations of the Russian Federation.
Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Rimma Evgenievna Ermolenko, welcoming the participants, emphasized the relevance and controversy of the topic, told the history of the development of technology education in Russian schools, and also emphasized that the conference is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of higher pedagogical education in the Republic of Karelia.
The plenary session was opened by the report of Svetlana Vladimirovna Rogova, Head of the General Education Department of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the implementation of the Education National Project and new opportunities for technological education in schools in connection with the opening of the Growing Point centers. In September of this academic year, the Republic of Karelia took part in the Marathon of opening of the Centers for the Education of Digital and Humanities “Growth Point”. This year, thanks to the Education national project, 2951 Growth Points have been created throughout Russia. Thirty of them have appeared in schools in Karelia. “Growth Points” – modern centers of education in schools located in rural areas and small towns.
Guest of honor and participant of the conference, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Yuri Leontyevich Khotuntsev, author of the first experimental program of the subject area “Technology” in our country (1994), head of the department of general technical disciplines, member of the editorial board and regular author of the journal “School and Production” in his report noted that “Points of growth” cannot be a substitute for studying the subject area “Technology”, which cannot be imagined without studying carpentry, plumbing, home economics. Yuri Leontyevich emphasized that the main purpose of the educational field “Technology” in the general education system is the formation of technological literacy, technological competence, technological worldview and technological culture of the student. Department of Technology, of fine arts and design has been cooperating with Yu.L. Khotuntsev, in his report Yuri Leontyevich announced a webinar for technology teachers, which he plans to hold in the near future together with Aleksey Aleksandrovich Talikh, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Technology, Fine Arts and Design of the Institute of Industrial Problems.
In the report of Rimma Evgenievna Ermolenko, Ph.D., director of the Institute of Education and Science, the possibilities and prospects for the development of the network model of the Pedagogical Innovation Park for future and existing teachers of technology are shown. The participants were greatly interested in the report of Tatyana Aleksandrovna Voloshina, Ph.D., associate professor, head of the department. Tatyana Aleksandrovna in her speech showed a new approach to the formation of the curriculum, taking into account not only the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard, but also the national, socio-economic characteristics of the region. The formation of the curriculum, the range of disciplines studied is aimed at the professional self-determination of the future teacher, at the development of personal and professional qualities that ensure success in the profession.
At the plenary session, reports were made by Illarionova Lyudmila Petrovna, professor of the Moscow State Regional University, Valentina Sergeevna Tenetylova, Ph.D., Head. Department of Oryol State University, Associate Professor. Practical orientation, the relevance of the speeches, the high degree of professionalism of the speakers aroused a keen interest of all the conference participants, already at the plenary session, words of gratitude were expressed to the conference organizers.
The conference program included the work of two sections, which presented the experience, best practices in the implementation of the subject area “Technology” Moderator of the section “Technology at school and higher education institution” Irina Anatolyevna Vlasova presented her pedagogical experience in the report “Experience of distance learning of students in manual labor techniques.” The project of the Pedagogical Innovation Park of PetrSU “Engineering and technological class as a platform for scientific and pedagogical creativity of students” was presented by the project manager Aleksey Aleksandrovich Talikh, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Technology, Fine Arts and Design, IPP PetrSU, and the project participant – Alexander Krenitsyn Aleksandrovich, student of the Department of Technology, Fine Arts and Design, Institute of Industrial Problems. Moderator of the section “Modern educational and material base of the subject area” Technology “Egorova Irina Igorevna (Moscow) – President of the Association of Art Industry Market Participants, President of the National Union of Enterprises of the Industry of Educational Equipment and Training Aids and Suppliers of Educational Organizations, moderating the work of the section, actualized the problem of the need equipment, modern material and technical base of the subject area “Technology.” Questions of digitalization, equipment, new formats of technology lessons, modern didactics – the subject of discussion of the section participants.
