Padhega India, Toh Badhega India
Udaipur: India is a developing nation with around 28 million youth population being added every year. These young minds are future of India who will drive the Nation on the path of socio-economic development. However, this high youth population won’t be of any help to the economy if universal education is not achieved all over India.
Therefore ensuring Quality Education for all, particularly for poor and rural population is key to socio-economic development of the country.
The report says, an estimated 8.1 million children are out of school and 49% children drop out before reaching Class 10.
Some of the roadblocks are non-availability of adequate & qualified teachers for certain subjects, poor infrastructural facilities and lack of monetary support to get enrolled in either private schools or move out of the village. Thus, either they have to drop out of the education or change the stream of education to get qualified and experienced teachers. It is evenly difficult to convince villagers to send their children to schools, particularly the girls.
With project “Shiksha Sambal”, Hindustan Zinc provides a platform that empowers rural students to pursue their dream of obtaining higher education and joining prestigious institutions to play an important role in development/ progress of the country in future. The team has deputed qualified teachers from external sources for English, Maths & Science in respective schools for the students appearing for Board examination.
These teachers are educated youths in the nearby villages who were unemployed and struggling to get jobs, in spite of possessing a degree.
Shiksha Sambal has tried to create the infrastructure and academic support that is necessary for any significant change in the performance of more than 6000 students in more than 57 government schools at 5 districts of Rajasthan – Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Udaipur.
