Ural Federal University: 100 Trees to Be Planted By May Walk Sports Activists

On September 27, students of the Ural Federal University, together with residents of Yekaterinburg, will go on the 37th May Walk. The traditional action under the motto “Test yourself” is timed to the anniversary of the university.

“Any participant of the walk will be able to take part in planting trees to restore the forest belt. To do this, volunteers from UrFU and Forestry University will work on one of the sections of the route – they will help to place the seedling correctly and invite the townspeople to join the celebration of the 100th anniversary,” said the organizer of the May Walk, famous meteors scholar Prof. Dr. Viktor Grokhovsky (UrFU).

The walk will take place along three routes, the average distance of 32 km will be timed to coincide with the anniversary of UrFU. All routes pass through the picturesque surroundings of the city, combining movement along forest roads, glades and sidewalks. At the first checkpoint, participants will be able to pass the TRP standards for tourism, for this, preliminary registration is required.

At the checkpoints, participants will receive drinking water, and doctors will be present at the sites to take check on the health of the particiapants. All guests of the May Walk who have successfully completed the distance will receive special pin badges.

May Walk – 2020 is organized by the Ural Federal University, the Ural State Pedagogical University and the Ural State Forestry University. The action is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department for the Development of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Yekaterinburg Administration.
