Madhumati Nallah works inspected and linked to Town beautification programme in Bandipora

Bandipora: On the directions of DDC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad, a team of officers conducted a day-long inspection of MadhumatiNallah protection and beautification works.

The team was headed by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad and Xen Irrigation & Flood Control Mr Khaliq Qureshi, DSEO BandiporaShafeeq Ahmad, TehsildarBandipora Mr MubashirSaleemNazki, officials from Irrigation and flood control participated.

The Madhumati stream passes through the heart of town Bandipora and its beautification holds the key significance. Joint Director Planning said So far around 102 works covering 6 Kms stretch on both sides of the stream have been protected with beautiful and well designed walls andviers making water to flow downstream through the cascade path.

The inspection was conducted to expedite the pending works, besides two spot encroachments were removed paving way for continuing chain link fencing works.

While briefing the media, Joint Director Planning reiterated that the resolve of District Administration is to beautify the town further for which various Projects are being designed and incorporated under different resource object heads.

He further stated that tasks become easy once team approach is preferred over working in isolation. He also hinted at solid waste management plans being executed from March 2021. “There will be a second round of visit as the team walked down from Sonerwani to Zalwan and could not complete the entire strip to complete all objectives of inspection”.

Work on one vier is under active progress near DPL, which will create pondage near Main Bridge and hence shall become main attraction for pedestrians and travellers.

Some viewing decks are also proposed and a walkway from Sonerwani to Kaloosa Bridge is also being developed.
