Implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006; Ramban Forest division hosts training-cum-awareness programme
Ramban: The Forest Division Ramban today organized training-cum- awareness programme to acquaint the officials of government departments with the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, for its effective implementation in the district.
The training was attended by ACR Ramban, Dherinder Sharma, SDM Gool, Giasul Haq, DFO Ramban, Dr. Rajan Singh, BDO Gool, BDO Sangaldan, Naib Tehsildars, Range Officer Gool along Foresters, Patwaris and VLWs.
At the onset, SDM Gool discussed the modalities for effective implementation of provisions of Forest Rights Act. He directed the Rural Development Department to formulate Forest Right Committees (FRCs) at the Panchayat level and impart training to the members regarding the scope and implementation of the Act.
“The Department shall have to hold Gram Sabhas across the district to form the Forest Rights Committees (FRC) and ensure participation of PRI members at all three tiers of Panchyati Raj System” he added.
Earlier, the DFO Ramban gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the provisions of the Act to sensitize the participant about prescribed necessary measures to implement the Act.
The trainees were briefed in detail about the salient features of the Act and the rules including the preamble, the forest dwelling communities, the constitution and functions of the 3-tier system of committees at the district, sub divisional and gram Panchayat level and the procedure to be followed for inviting, acknowledging and processing the claims under the Act.
