Training cum awareness session on FRA held at Ganderbal

Ganderbal: A training-cum-awareness programme for effective implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA)-2006 was today hosted by the Forest Division Ganderbal for field functionaries and other committee members of the district.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal chaired the session in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba.

Over 80 field functionaries of Revenue, RDD and Forest department participated in the training session.

The DC discussed modalities for effective implementation of provisions of Forest Rights Act. He directed the Rural Development Department to complete the formulation of FRCs in time while stressing for preparation of master trainers for imparting level 4 & 5 training to FRC members.

Earlier, DFO Sindh gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the provisions of the Act.

The trainees were briefed in detail about the salient features of the Act and the rules including the preamble, forest dwelling communities, the constitution and functions of the 3-tier system of committees at the district, sub divisional and gram Panchayat level and the procedure to be followed for inviting, acknowledging and processing the claims under the Act.

ACR and DFO Ganderbal besides BDOs and Range officers of Ganderbal and Kangan were also present on the occasion.
