Aligarh Muslim University receives sanction for pending payments

Aligarh: The Ministry of Education and University Grants Commission (UGC), has agreed to resolve the long-pending financial requirements of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

AMU has received sanction for funds for paying all retirement benefits to the teaching and non-teaching staff. It also received sanction for pending funds for all arrears of pensioners and arrears for allowances of teaching and non-teaching staff under the VII Pay Commission. The university has received sanction for the fund for all pending arrears of Junior and Senior Residents of J N Medical College (JNMC).

In addition, the university has also received communication for sanction of a one-time grant for property tax levied on AMU by the Aligarh Nagar Nigam.

The university clarified that it has received the sanction, but the payment will be released as soon as it receives the fund from the Ministry of Education/ UGC.

The sanction has been made after the unswerving efforts of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor and other officials of the university.

AMU is highly thankful to the honourable Prime Minister of India and the honourable Minister of Education, Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, concerned officials of the Ministry of Education, UGC Chairman, and officials of UGC for their continuous support to ensure the smooth functioning of this great seat of learning.
