PetrSU students take part in the translation of the VKontakte network into the Karelian language
Students of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of the Institute of Philology and students of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology studying in the specialty “Pedagogical Education” (with two training profiles), together with teachers, translate keys that can consist of one word, phrase, sentence or paragraph.
The translation of the social network into the Karelian language began in September 2016. The project coordinator for the translation of the social network VKontakte into the Karelian language is Maria Vladimirovna Kundozerova, a graduate of the department, Ph.D.
During this time, a huge number of keys have been translated by activists, experts in the Karelian language. But the social network is developing, and the number of keys is increasing every day.
The project is both educational in nature and aimed at popularizing the Karelian language among young people and not only. The work is interesting and will continue. The main difficulty that students faced during translation was the absence of many modern terms in the Karelian language,
