DC Reasi visits Dogra Rural Haat – Shiv Khori
Reasi: Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib today visited Dogra Rural Haat at Kothian-Pouni and interacted with members of various women Self Help Groups.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Dogra Rural Haat has been established to provide Self Help Groups a place to sell their products. The marketplace has been set up considering heavy footfall of pilgrims and tourists visiting the holy Shiv Khori cave. She informed that signboards would be installed between holy town of Katra and Shiv Khori to promote the rural haat. The Dogra Rural Haat has been constructed at a cost of Rs 17 lakh.
Women associated with local self help groups and members of local Panchayats have expressed delight over construction of the rural haat. They hope that it would provide a platform to exhibit authentic Dogra crafts and culture.
Tourists would be able to purchase products like desi ghee, earthen pots, straw mats, lemon grass perfume among other local products. The place would also provide them a chance to savour traditional Dogra cuisines.
