District Development Council Baramulla elects Chairperson, Vice Chairperson

Baramulla: The Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla were elected Saturday in a meeting of the elected DDC members convened at Dak Bungalow, here under the chairmanship of the District Election Officer (District Development Commissioner) Baramulla, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.

DDC Member from Wagoora Constituency, Safina Beigh (independent) was elected as DDC Chairperson for district Baramulla. The elected chairperson has secured 10 votes out of 14 DDC votes.

Moreover, DDC Member from Pattan Constituency Sanuallah Parray has been elected as the Vice Chairperson. However, both Sanaullah Parray and his rival Irfan Hafeez Lone, an independent DDC Member from Sangrama Constituency, have secured equal number of votes and the election was tied. To resolve the matter, a lot was drawn in which Sanuallah Parray was selected as the vice chairperson.

Meanwhile, the DEO administered the oath of office to the newly elected Chairperson and vice-chairperson.

It is worth mentioning here that the meeting for the said election was earlier scheduled on 08th of this month which was adjourned by the District Election Officer due to lack of the prescribed quorum.
