Awareness camp on Social Welfare schemes held at Tikri

Udhampur: One day awareness cum distribution camp was today organized by Social Welfare Department Udhampur in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), here in the premises of Block Development Office Complex Tikri.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar and BDC Chairman Tikri, Nisha Sharma were the chief guests, while District Social Welfare Officer Udhampur Er Sajad Bashir Somberia presided over the programme on the occasion.

During the camp, awareness was generated among the locals regarding various welfare schemes being implemented by the SW department, namely Integrated social security pension scheme, National social assistance programme, Prosthetic Aid, Homes for the destitute and orphans, Pre and Post matric scholarship scheme, SMAS (Sate Marriage Assistant Scheme), Grant in Aid to NGO’s, Special camps for the pensions with disability, Pension for transgender.

In the camp, around 29 different Assistive Devices such as Wheel Chairs, Hearing Machines, Crutches, Clippers, Tricycle, CP Chairs and Sticks were provided to the Specially Abled persons of adjoining area by ALIMCO.

The DSWO informed that the ALIMCO provided the aids to the PwDs of the area after conducting an assessment. He said that similar assessment camps are being organized by the ALIMCO, in coordination with Social Welfare Department, in other areas and asked the PRIs to aware the beneficiaries about the same.

The DSWO also explained the procedure for availing the benefits of various schemes run by Social welfare Department.

While addressing the participants, the ADDC applauded the efforts made by Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO for organizing this awareness cum distribution camp.

At the end, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tilak Raj presented vote of thanks.

Among others experts from ALIMCO, representatives of NGOs, Sarpanches, Panches and prominent citizen of adjoining area were also present.
