DDC Budgam reviews progress on development of Kanihama Craft Tourism Village

Budgam: The District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today convened a meeting to review the progress of development on Kanihama Craft Tourism Village at New Conference Hall here.

The meeting was informed that 27 weaver sheds will be constructed in the Craft Tourism Village, and for this the government will provide 70 percent assistance to the general category weavers and 100 percent assistance to those belonging to BPL/PHH/SC category or women.

The DDC said that 150 identified weavers houses across the craft village will be renovated.

Regarding the marketing and promoting of Kani shawl and other products at Global level, the DDC said that Kani Shawl and other products shall be made available on web portal to encourage display and online purchasing of these products

He also took status of other development works including one Cafeteria, lighting system across the village, construction of one view point, development of sumo stand and development of one wellness centre besides development of entry points to the village and installation of drinking water facility.

The DDC directed the concerned officers that the work should be completed before the 10th of March 2021.

Among others, the meeting was attended by JD Planning, DD Tourism, District Evaluation Officer, District informatics Officer, BDO SK Pora, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B, and other concerned.
