Webinar to mark International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Day

For this reason, great emphasis is placed on BCLS training to equip medical as well as non-medical professionals with the required skills and knowledge,” said Prof Syed Moied Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Anesthesiology, J N Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
He was delivering a lecture in the webinar on ‘Basic Cardiac Life Support’ held at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Z A Dental College (ZADC) to mark the International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Day.
High-quality CPR is the primary component in influencing survival from cardiac arrest. To save more lives, healthcare providers must be competent in delivering high-quality CPR, and patient care teams must be coordinated and competent working together effectively.
Prof Ahmed added that a high-quality Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the primary component in influencing survival from cardiac arrest. Healthcare providers must be competent in delivering a high-quality CPR with proper chest compression fraction and compression rate.
He further spoke on the use of automated external defibrillator in helping those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
“An automated external defibrillator is sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyse the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm,” said Prof Ahmed.
Prof Ahmed and his team comprising Dr Farah Nasreen, Dr Shahna Ali, Dr Manazir Athar and Dr Moazzam Hasan presented a demonstration on a Manikin and discussed the primary medical aid provided to a person in an emergency medical situation.
Prof R K Tewari, Principal, ZADC elaborated how Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery corrects a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
Prof G S Hashmi, Chairman, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery delivered the welcome address and spoke on the management of trauma, tumors, TMJ and cancer in the maxillofacial field.
Dr Sajjad Abdur Rahman extended the vote of thanks. Dr Aafia Ambereen conducted the programme.
