Samba admin braces for constitution of Export Promotion Committee
Samba: District Administration Samba is bracing for constitution of District Level Export Promotion Committee as mandated by the government.
In this regard, District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, today chaired a meeting and discussed the modalities for the formation of the Committee and the terms and references laid down by the J&K government for its working.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the constitution of the committee in each district to boost export of the local agriculture, handicraft and other export potential products. Detailed deliberations were held with the District heads of Industries, Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts, Handloom, KVIB and others.
Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; General Manager, DIC, Sansar Chand; Chief Agriculture Officer, Sanjeev Verma; Chief Horticulture Officer, Anil Kumar Gorkha; District Lead Bank Manager, Ajay Koul and Assistant Director Handicrafts besides others officers were also present on the occasion.
The meeting listed the terms of reference laid down by the government and to be followed by the district Level Export Promotion Committee.
The DDC informed that calico printing, Mango Pickel etc can be tagged as export potential products of the district and the Committee would assess the benchmark baseline export performance of the district in current situation.
He reiterated that sub-groups would be created for each identified potential export product by involving the stakeholders. A comprehensive District Level Export Action Plan to identify the bottlenecks and assess the need for training and infrastructure development in the district for export of potential products shall be formulated at an earliest, said the DDC.
He said a convergence approach among the various departments is required to promote the export of the products and the district level export promotion committee would help in bridging the gaps.
