GDC Nowshera Botany Department organizes training session on Herbarium Techniques

Nowshera: A training Session of one hour on Herbarium Techniques was conducted today by the Department of Botany, Government Degree College Nowshera in the Smart Classroom of the college.

As many as 60 students of all the Semesters attended the programme.

Head of Department Botany, Prof. Pooja Devi delivered a detailed presentation on various techniques and steps involved in preparation of Herbarium specimens and the role of Herbaria for teaching and research purposes.

The aim behind organizing the activity was to give hands on knowledge to the students related to collection of plant specimens, their pressing, drying and mounting on the Herbarium sheets.

At the end, the students were assigned the task of depositing a Herbarium specimen in the Department of Botany.

Principal of the College, Dr. Surinder Kumar lauded the efforts of Botany Department for organizing the activity and encouraged it for holding more such events in future.
