AMU: Disability Unit organizes literary and cultural events

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University’s Disability Unit organized an online Speech and Self-Composed Poetry competition on the themes of “Role of Differently Abled persons in nation building” and “My Country My Pride”. A large number of school children of AMU and other schools participated in the events.

Sufyan Aftab and Ayan of STS school won first prizes in Hindi and Urdu self-composed poetry respectively; while
Zunaira Batool of Our Lady of Fatima and Shamia Parvez of ABK Girls School were joint winners of English self-composed poetry.

Ammar Abdullah and Sufiyan Aftab of STS School and Mehwish of City Girls School won first prizes in Hindi, Urdu, and English speech competitions respectively.

Congratulating the winners, Prof Khalid Bin Yousuf Khan (Coordinator) urged people to extend helping hands to the differently-abled students who have the potential to win their rightful place in society. He assured that the Unit will keep organizing such competitions to help differently-abled students explore their literary and cultural capabilities and partake in mainstream educational activities.

Counselors, Dr Faiz Zaidi and Dr Shagufta Niyaz conducted and organized the online events.
