DC Kathua distributes hygiene kits, warm clothes among Nari Niketan inmates
Kathua: Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Kathua, Om Prakash (Deputy Commissioner) today distributed hygiene kits, warm clothes and masks among the inmates of Nari Niketan here today.
Executive Secretary IRCS Kathua, Om Parkash Sharma; Superintendent Nari Niketan, Neelam Rani; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim; DIO Parshotam Dass; TSWO Vishav Sharma; YRC/JRC Coordinator, Er. Vivek Sharma; Executive Committee Member, Khem Raj Sharma; Red Cross Assistant, Puran Parshad Sharma and Volunteers of Red Cross Kathua were present on the occasion.
While interacting with staff and the inmates, the DC assured that arrangements for a tutor, besides provision of beautification training and a computer for the inmates will be made by district administration at the earliest. He directed superintendent to motivate the inmates to pursue skill trainings in different trades so that they can become self reliant.
Later, Deputy Commissioner, Om Prakash presided over a programme organized by District Level Centre for Women (DLCW) to mark one year of establishment of Mahila Shakti Kendra Kathua.
On the occasion, the birthday celebration of girl child was also organized, wherein Deputy Commissioner distributed 8 baby kits and 10 education kits among the beneficiary girls.
The DC hailed the efforts of the team members of Mahila Shakti Kendra for their active participation in organizing awareness programmes on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, besides distributing books and health kits with the help of ISM department. He said district Kathua was the first district to have Mahila Shakti Kendra which was aimed to provide one stop solution and guidance of women and girl child besides doing welfare oriented works in the district.
PO ICDS Ritu Mahajan, District Women Welfare Officer, Itika Mahajan, District Coordinators, and other staff members of ICDS, Social Welfare and DLCW were also present.
