Central University of Punjab celebrated its 12th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm
Bathinda: Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) celebrated 12th Foundation Day at its Ghudda Campus with great enthusiasm. The eight-day celebrations organised to commemorate CUPB’s 12 glorious years in teaching & research concluded with a special programme on 28th February. These celebrations conducted under the patronage of Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari was special as it included Cultural Activities, Sports Meet, Ideathon, Food Carnival, International Science Quiz, and Academic Events. The Chief Guest of CUPB Foundation Day Function was Padma Bhushan Prof. Vijay P. Bhatkar, Hon’ble Chancellor, Nalanda University. Mrs. Karuna Tiwari, the first lady of university, attended the programme as a special guest.
In this eight-day celebrations, eminent personalities such as Dr. Renu Swarup (Secretary, DBT), Padma Vibhushan Prof. M.M. Sharma (Former Director, Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai), Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe (Chairman, AICTE) enlightened youngsters with expert lectures. In addition to this, Prof. Shekhar C. Mande (DG, CSIR) delivered inaugural lecture during International Science Quiz Competition conducted by Dr Felix to mark National Science Day on 28th February.
During the Foundation Day Ceremonial Programme, Padma Bhushan Prof. Vijay P. Bhatkar complimented CUPB faculty, staff members and students for setting new standards in higher education sector in short span of 12 years and making this university a youngest central university to be ranked among India’s Top 100 Universities in NIRF 2020 Rankings. He encouraged researchers to focus on interdisciplinary research and find innovative solutions to social problems.
In his presidential address, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice- Chancellor, congratulated CUPB family on the completing twelve remarkable years in the field of education & research. He mentioned that in the era of Industrial Revolution-4 we need to adopt Education-4 practices which is focused on Innovation which is the focus area of NEP-2020. He asserted that CUPB is committed to implement all imperatives of NEP-2020, build innovation ecosystem, provide skill development training, and impart learner centric holistic education to our students. He appreciated students for enthusiastically participating in different activities of this Foundation Day Celebrations celebration and showcasing the rich & varied cultural heritage of India.
During this ceremony, special awards & appreciation certificates were conferred to university students, research scholars, teaching faculty and staff members based on their annual performance. Dr Khetan held the title of Best Teacher Award. Dr Aklank Jain (sciences) & Dr Rubal Kanozia of department of Mass Communication and Media Studies (Humanities) received Outstanding Research Award. The research award was conferred to Dr. Shashank Kumar, Dr. Prafulla Kumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Raj Kumar, Dr. Sachin Kumar, Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Yogalakshmi K.N., Dr. Krishna Kant Haldar, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Prof. Anjana Munshi, Dr. Puneet Kumar, Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Prof. P. K. Mishra, Ph.D. student Rathindranath Biswas, Atul Kumar Singh, Uttam Sharma and Nishanth Kumar have received awards in their respective category. Mr. Puneet, Ms. Prachi Srivastava and Mr Parminder Singh received the Registrar Award for Best Non-Teaching Employees. On this occasion Vice Chancellor released a book written by Dr. Puneet Bansal on Frontiers on Pharmacology in Neurotransmitters.
Post facilitation ceremony, students showcased magnificent singing and dance performances on folk songs. Registrar Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra thanked the Chief Guest, & other guests for their gracious presence. Towards the end, he delivered formal vote of thanks.
