DDC Rajouri calls for strengthening of MSME sector for employment generation
Rajouri: To discuss the issues pertaining to the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the district, the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan on Thursday convened a meeting with the concerned officers here in his office chamber.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Chief Agriculture Officer, Mahesh Verma; Project Manager DIC, Akhil Nuvaid; District Officer KVIB, Abdul Aziz Wani besides other concerned officers and the Entrepreneurs were also present in the meeting.
A number of issues pertaining to the MSMEs including lack of water supply schemes in some industrial estates, illegal parking, simplification in the rent deed process, cleanliness and sanitation of the industrial units and other related issues were discussed threadbare in the meeting.
The DDC sought a detailed report from the concerned officer of DIC Rajouri about the number of industrial units operating in the district. It was apprised that there are 52 industrial units in organised sector and 911 units under unorganised sector in the district out of which 272 unorganised sector and 11 organised sector units are non functional.
The DDC asked the concerned officer to call a separate meeting of the owners of the non operating units and make them functional at the earliest.
Regarding the progress achieved under the employment generation schemes, the District Officer KVIB informed that as many as 367 cases have been sponsored under PMGEP and 125 have been sanctioned. Similarly, REGP, it was informed that as many as 120 have been sponsored and 74 have been sanctioned. He also informed that there is an issue of rent deed which creates an impediment in the process of sanctioning the cases. It was decided that the Sub-registrar revenue shall facilitate the candidates in the process of rent deed.
Regarding the issue of cleanliness and sanitation of the industrial units, the DDC asked the concerned officer from DIC to take concrete measures in the regard.
He further called upon the concerned officers to generate massive awareness among the youth about different employment generation schemes being implemented by their departments in the district and motivate them to avail the benefits of the same.
The DDC said that since milk and milk products are to be promoted in the district under One District One Product scheme, there is dire need to work in close coordination for the promotion of such products and make the district an export hub of the identified products.
