MHRD sponsored Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat concluded at CUO
Report by Nishapati Nayak, Sunabeda: The 8 day long Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, a flagship programme of the Ministry of HRD organized by the Central University of Orissa successfully concluded at its city campus at Koraput. Odisha and Maharashtra are paired in this programme and therefore the theme of the programme was on learning of Marathi culture with special focus on Marathi Theatre.
The programme was inaugurated on 22-01-2018 by Prof Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, at main campus of the University at Sunabeda. A special lecture was delivered by Shri Sandeep Sapkale, Assistant Professor, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Viswavidyalay, Wardha and a residential workshop on Marathi Theatre was started. The resource persons of the workshop were Prof Sandhya Rayate and Shri Shivdas Ghodke, both alumni of National School of Drama and Faculty of Academy of Theatre Arts, University of Mumbai.
23 students, who were selected through an audition, participated in the workshop. The workshop focused on various aspects of theatre like stage craft, make up & costume, history of Marathi Theatre etc. The students were trained to perform a part of the Marathi play, ‘Silence! Khatla Chalu Ahe’ by Ramesh Pawar in the style of Tamasha, a popular folk form of Maharashtra. The play was directed by Prof Sandhya Rayate.
Prof Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CUO congratulated the participants of the workshop for their fabulous efforts. He outlined the commonalities in culture of Odisha & Maharashtra and thanked Government of India for conceiving the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Also present in the workshop were Prof K C Raut, Dean Academics & Nodal Officer, EBSB, Prof Bhabani Prasad Rath, OSD, Shri Sourav Gupta, Assistant Professor, J & MC & Convener, EBSB & Dr Phagunath Bhoi, P.R.O & Member-Secretary, EBSB.
