NRLM Ramban, GDC Ukhral celebrate International Women’s Day

Ramban: Government Degree College, Ukhral today celebrated International Women’s Day”.  The programme was chaired by the Principal, Dr. Ranvijay Singh, who highlighted the achievements of many women in different fields of contemporary times.

The programme on the theme “choose to challenge” was attended by all faculty members and students of the college.

In his inaugural speech, Prof. Iftikhar Hussain presented an overview of the gender indifferences and the need to overcome them. Many students and faculty members also presented their views on the occasion.

Paper presentations were also made by the students. Prof. Ishfaq Hussain and Dr. Shafiq Ahmad Katoch also spoke on the importance of gender equality and political and economic rights to women.

The theme was thoroughly discussed and the aims of the programme were well brought home. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Zakir Hussain.

Meanwhile, day long-activities were also organized by the cluster level federations and village level organization of NRLM (UMEED) Ramban to pay tribute to the women , who contributed towards women empowerment and developing themselves socially and economically.

In a cohesive and magnified manner, different activities were held, including sharing of success stories of SHG members, organizing rallies at concerned cluster level federations and providing motivation and appreciation to those women members who are working day and night for making themselves and community associated self reliant, financially independent and establishing their own sustainable livelihoods.
