Ural federal university: UrFU Climbs in World’s Top-100 in Hospitality & Leisure Management – QS By Subject Rankings

High-quality level of education programs like Tourism allowed the Ural Federal University to enter the top-100 of the world’s best universities for the first time in subject Hospitality & Leisure Management. The corresponding subject ranking has been recently published by the international agency QS.

First Vice-Rector Dmitry Bugrov is sure that one of the reasons for such a powerful leap in Yekaterinburg and the entire Urals in the tourism industry is the cooperation of the university with leading companies and universities in the world, which made it possible to train truly in-demand personnel for tour operators, hoteliers and air carriers.

“Since 2000, our university has been preparing specialists in the field of tourism, and from the very beginning it was very important for us to gain recognition from professionals in the hospitality and travel industry,” emphasizes Bugrov. – We managed to establish extremely effective cooperation with such industry giants as Amadeus, Saber, IATA. Almost all major players who entered or tried to enter the market of tourist services in Yekaterinburg in the mid-2000s (Rezidor SAS, Marriott, MaMaison Hotels & Apartments, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Austrian Airlines, Finnair, British Airways, Czech Airlines, Hertz, Academservice and etc.), presented themselves to the local community for the first time and educate agents here at UrFU.”

Having received the official status of authorized education centers from Amadeus and IATA, the university offered the tourism industry educational programs that are interesting and useful for professionals. And the regular participation of teachers and students in providing stands of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region at the world’s largest tourism exhibitions in Berlin (ITB) and London (WTM) strengthened the authority of UrFU among industry specialists.
