Mega Kisan Mela/ Exhibition held at Anantnag

Anantnag: The Agriculture Department today organised a Mega Exhibition cum Kisan Mela at Dak Bungalow Khanabal here.

The event was presided over by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohammad Iqbal Choudhry as Chief Guest and was attended by President MCA Hilal Ahmad Shah, ADC Gulzar Ahmad, Joint Directors of Agri dept., CAO, DSWO, CAHO, DSHO, DOA, Bank officials, other concerned officials and a large number of farmers of the district.

As many as 18 stalls were installed where various products related to Agriculture and allied sectors were displayed. Besides, a number of entrepreneurs showcased their items and achievements during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Choudhry reiterated his commitment to provide quality services and materials besides ensuring smooth implementation of the relevant schemes for the overall socio-economic upliftment of the farmer community.

He impressed upon the officers to enhance the outreach to the producers and growers and elaborate all the technicalities associated with the latest farm practices in simplest terms.

While laying emphasis on the importance of quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc in enhancing the output, he assured to make the provision of these input materials affordable and accessible to the farming community.

On the occasion, CAO, Dr. Waseem highlighted the achievements of the department and presented a brief Agriculture scenario of the district.

He said that the district has a vast potential and called for adoption of latest farm practices and scientific techniques besides use of quality input materials which have a capacity to boost the production and generate meaningful and sustainable employment for a large number of people.

Earlier, the officers of Agriculture and allied sectors, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, Social welfare and other concerned departments apprised the farmers about their schemes and a number of progressive farmers shared their success stories.

The Director inspected the stalls and interacted with the beneficiaries who were presented with cheques, Tractor and Tiller Keys and appreciation letters

Choudhary also oversaw the ceremonial launch of the Agriculture Brochure which has been prepared by Agriculture Department Anantnag and highlights the Agriculture and Religious Tourism Map of the district.

Later, JD Agriculture inaugurated the Custom Hiring Centre at Mattan in presence of CAO and other officials of the department.

The farmers on the occasion hailed the efforts of the department and hoped that such events will continue.
