DDC Rajouri meets fruit, vegetable association members
Rajouri : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the fruit and vegetable associations and the concerned officers to discuss with them the measures being taken to facilitate the fruit and vegetable growers of the district.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Area and Marketing Officer, Arvind Pangotra; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shammi Kumar besides the President, Joginder Pal Sharma and the members of the fruit and vegetable association were also present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that to facilitate direct marketing in the district, a fruit and vegetable Mandi has been set up at Phalyana area of Rajouri district with 66 shops.
The DDC asked the Area and Marketing Officer to issue a notice to the owners of the non-functional shops and ensure that these are made functional at the earliest.
The DDC said that the need of the hour is to open Tehsil and Block level mandis, which will help the farmers to sell the produce at their doorsteps. He asked the Area Marketing Officer to submit a proposal in this regard.
The meeting decided that the Tehsildars concerned shall identify state land and the Rural Development Department shall execute the work on the construction of the tehsil and block-level Mandis.
The meeting also decided to constitute a team comprising Area Marketing Officer, AGMO, Tehsildar and concerned officers from Food Safety to ensure that fruits and vegetables are sold as per grading and at genuine rates.
The DDC also asked the AMO to ensure that all the shops in Mandi at Pahalayana have a functional toilet and drinking water facility. He also directed him to maintain proper cleanliness and sanitation in the Mandi.
