DYS&SD Shopian organises Tennis Ball Cricket tournament for specially abled

Shopian: The Shine Star team today won the Tennis Ball Cricket tournament organised by District Youth Services and Sports Department (DYS&S) Shopian at Sports Stadium Batapora, here.

As many as four teams of specially abled persons from different Zones of Shopian district took part in the tournament that was held under the supervision of District Youth and Sports Officer Shopian, Gurmukh Singh Dutta.

This final match of the tournament was won by team Shine Star by 28 runs and the man of the match was given to Sayar Ahmed, who scored 39 runs and took two wickets.

On the occasion, the DYS&SO said that Tennis Ball Cricket Match is a game for everyone to play and enjoy, young or old, disabled or physically fit and is a great way to teach the basic rules of Cricket.

He said the youth, especially disabled persons are inclined towards sports and have got opportunities to take part in sports activities. He further said that the sports department Shopian gave the disabled persons (youth) of Shopian an opportunity to shine their sporting skills and show their talents by performing well in this regard.

Dutta said that this game has become quite popular in South Asia, so we thought children from our area should also get the opportunity to take part in games more and more.

The Officers and Officials of District Youth Services and Sports Department Shopian besides people in huge numbers were present on this occasion.
