Career Counselling Session for school students by Tata Steel at West Bokaro
West Bokaro: With an objective to provide proper guidance to the school children of West Bokaro, a one-day career counselling session was organised by Tata Steel Rural Development Society on February 14, 2018 at Auditorium, West Bokaro.
The session was inaugurated by Ms Ruchi Narendran in the presence of Ms Mita Singhal and Ms Ranjana Singh. The session was conducted by renowned educational institutions, namely, Career Launcher and Akash Institute. The programme aimed at providing a balanced approach to the students of class X to class XII along with their teachers to effectively manage their time and study schedules as they geared for the board examinations.
More than 250 students from 12 schools from in and around West Bokaro registered for the session where they were engaged in an exercise of exploring the emerging career avenues along with available choices of education in the future. The session also included individual counselling for students for a bright and promising future in the fields of engineering, medical, management and allied studies.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Narendran said: “There are vast career options available today and students need guidance on the same. I am sure that a platform like this will help not only the students but also the teachers to guide their students better in choosing career of a lifetime.”
The team of experts from the institutes emphasised that exploration of careers was of utmost importance. They took everyone through a paradigm shift on the subjects of choice of career in today’s times. During the interactive session, apart from receiving knowledge on cracking various entrance examinations, the students and teachers were also introduced to various emerging career streams as banking, education, etc. apart from engineering, medical and management streams.
During the session, the students and teachers were also informed about ‘Tata Steel Scholars Programme’ that offers mentoring support along with financial assistance to poor SC/ST students who make it to some of the country’s top-notch institutes like IIT, IIM, NIT, TISS and XIMB.
