IIIT Hyderabad signs MoU with NRDC for management of technology transfers and patent applications
Hyderabad, 15 February 2018:The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) and National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) signed a MOU today to co-operate on the development of technologies and their successful transfer to industry for commercial and socio‑economic benefits.
In keeping with NRDC’s primary objective to promote, develop and commercialise technologies from various national R&D institutions, it will assist with the management of IIIT-Hyderabad’s patent applications and tech transfers. And IIIT-H will provide demonstrations of the productisable technologies and prototypes to assess their feasibility.
NRDC will also assist with productizing IIIT-H’s research through speedy and effective licensing and commercialization of its technologies.
Speaking on this agreement, Prof P J Narayanan, Director, IIIT-Hyderabad said, “It’s always been IIIT-H’s endeavor to take our research from lab to land, especially with technologies that can benefit society. We’re happy to be associated with NRDC and look forward to this collaboration.”
Dr H Purushotham,Chairman and Managing Director of NRDC stated during the agreement signing ceremony that the partnership between IIIT-H and NRDC shall assist the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Start up India and Make in India Missions as NRDC has been a pioneer in IP Protection and technology transfer in the country, transferred about 5000 technologies in different fields to startups, SMEs and filed 1700 Patents in India and abroad. NRDC is playing a major role in promoting startups by way of transferring innovative technologies developed by various public funded R&D institutes, assisting Start up India Mission and Indian Oil Corporation for implementing their Startup Scheme.
