GHCL Limited wins the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility – 2017
New Delhi: GHCL Limited, a well-diversified group with footprints in Chemicals, Textiles, and Consumer Products segment has been awarded the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility – 2017. The Golden Peacock Award Trophy and a Certificate was presented at a specially organised ‘Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony’ held on Friday, 9th February 2018, at 1900 hrs, at Hotel Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru (India), in the presence of a distinguished gathering of business leaders and participants during IOD, India’s “12th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility”.
The award is bestowed by the awards’ Jury headed by Justice (Dr.) Arijit Pasayat, former Judge, Supreme Court of India.
GHCL Foundation which is the CSR arm of GHCL Limited is involved in various need based developmental initiatives in areas of Education, Community Health and Livelihood which influence the life of more than 75000 households in 77 villages at four locations in Gujarat viz. Sutrapada, Victor (Rajula); Bhavnagar and Bhilad. GHCL Foundation works with the local farmers by imparting them training and improving their exposure to modern farming techniques and creating a sense of responsibility towards the environment. More than 23,000 farmers have benefited from these efforts.
The GHCL Foundation has Aanganwadi centers, which train preschool children. It also runs various skill development initiatives which have helped many individuals improve their employability in the local industries.
Health, drinking water, sanitation and women empowerment are also important areas of focus. GHCL Foundation conducts regular health checkups, weekly health clinics and awareness camps. It has been working with the Government of Gujarat to connect various villages to drinking water pipelines. As part of the sanitation drive to make villages ODF till date more than 7,700 toilets have been constructed for the households in these areas.
GHCL’s CSR Policy focuses on the wellbeing of every stakeholder and can be aptly described by the shloka:
