Grievance Redressal Camps/ other events mark observance of Block Diwas across Kashmir

 

Srinagar: As part of Governments ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme, the Block Divas or Youm-e-Block was today observed with great enthusiasm across all the districts of Kashmir.

On the occasion, the respective District Administrations organised grievance redressal camps besides other related events at Block Headquarters and at different locations of the district to listen to the public issues, grievances and raise awareness on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for welfare of youth, farmers and others.

The officers on the occasion assessed the progress of developmental works being executed in different sectors and redressed the public grievances as well as providing the services to the masses at their door steps to strengthen grassroots level democracy.

At Srinagar: The Block Divas was held at Harwan under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.

On the occasion, various block officers including SDM East and Tehsildar north and other Officers accompanied the DC to take first hand appraisal of the public issues and grievances.

Addressing the gathering, the DC raised awareness on the strict adherence of Covid-19 SOPs and stress was laid on the role of people to visit Medical Centres for Covid-19 vaccination. Further, people were made aware about Golden Card Seeding and 108 ambulance service already in place.

Various delegations and a large number of people from Harwan and its adjoining areas apprised the DC of their issues, grievances and demands. The DC after giving patient hearing redressed various grievances on spot and assured of resolving other genuine grievances within the stipulated time frame.

The DC further assured people that the District Administration will always be available for public services delivery and betterment of people.

At Budgam: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today convened a public outreach cum interaction programme at Town Hall Chadoora.

People hailing from different areas of Subdivision Chadoora attended the programme and put forth their issues relating to various basic problems they are facing.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC assured all deputations and individuals that whatever issues, demands they have put forth and registered will be seriously taken note of, however many issues of urgent category were addressed on spot.

The DDC further added that District Administration is ensuring that public outreach programme shall prove fruitful and progressive initiative for the upcoming period.

During the day long programme DDC also held separate interaction with MC President Chadoora, Sarpanchs and Panchs, of the concerned areas to get first hand appraisal of their scheduled activities, particularly relating to public issues at grass roots level and also about the response they are receiving from administrative functionaries.

The DDC assured that there shall be absolute support and cooperation from administrative machinery as and when required in the interest of common people.

The day-long programme was also attended by SDM Chadoora, SDPO Char e shareef, CMO Budgam, all Ex. Engineers, Tehsildar, BMO Chadoora, Deputy CEO Chadoora and other concerned.

Similar programmes under the Block Diwas Initiative were also held at SDM office Khansahab, Beerwah and DC Office Budgam.

At Ganderbal: To take firsthand appraisal of public grievances and issues, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today held public darbar as part of weekly Block Diwas programme at Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, here.

The program witnessed huge participation of locals and PRIs from various Halqas of Ganderbal and Sherpathri blocks who apprised the DC about grievances and developmental needs in their respective areas.

Locals put forth their issues relating to problems particularly development of existing roads, desilting of irrigation khuls, encroachment of dewatering channels, augmentation of drinking water supply and electricity, dearth of staff in High School Rabitar, better health care facilities and other issues of public importance.

The Officers/Officials of all line departments were present on the occasion remained busy in registering the demands and grievances of the locals with an aim to ensure redressal of grievances in minimum possible time.

The DC listened to the grievances raised and assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time bound manner. She also gave on spot directions for redressal of many issues of urgent category to the concerned departments.

While replying to the issue of desilting of irrigation canals, the DC directed I&FC department to chalk-out a plan at an earliest so that desilting of important irrigation canals and khuls is started and completed before the onset of irrigation season.

She also took strong note of illegal encroachment along dewatering channels and said that district administration will act tough against all such unscrupulous persons and directed the concerned to visit on all such spots and carry intensive anti encroachment drives so that encroached land is retrieved.

Among others, SSP Ganderbal, Suhail Munawar Mir, CPO, BDO, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti/I&FC, R&B and PMGSY, Tehsildar Ganderbal and Officers from all other line departments. Besides, Sarpanchs, Panchs were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba presided over the block diwas proceedings at Wakura and SDM Kangan, Hakeem Tanveer chaired the block diwas in Kangan sub-division.

At Baramulla: Continuing its efforts to get the first hand appraisal of public issues and grievances, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a day long public grievance redressal camp at Community hall Wagoora.

Different stakeholders including BDC Chairpersons, PRIs, civil society members, among other prominent citizens from Wagoora and its adjoining areas participated in the camp.

On the occasion, the concerned stakeholders highlighted various grievances and demands meant for the overall welfare of the area.

The demands which were raised at the event include removal of encroachments from state/kah-charai land, completion and functioning of Wagoora hospital, regulation of sub-standard pesticides, dredging of Nallah Nigli, establishment of fire service station at Wagoora, upgradation of Putkah to Babareshi road, improvement of electric and water supply lines among other demands of vital public importance.

The DC gave a patient hearing of all the demands and resolved some of the important grievances/issues on the spot. He also assured that all other remaining issues shall be taken with the concerned authorities and also issued on spot directions to some officers in this regard.

The DC urged upon the people to cooperate with the administration in carrying out Covid-19 vaccination programme smoothly and successfully besides emphasising upon them to follow requisite SOPs and guidelines more especially using masks and maintaining social distancing, in letter and spirit.

He added that district administration has scaled up anti-corona efforts like mass vaccination and said that public cooperation in this regard is vital as further imposition of lock down measures may prove detrimental to our education as well as to our economy.

At Pulwama: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pulwama, Altaf Ahmad today spent the whole day in block Pulwama and redressed hundreds of grievances on the spot.

On the occasion, the ADC appealed to people to register for Covid vaccination and be the agents in mitigation of Covid pandemic. He said vaccination is open to people of age group of above 60 and those between 45- 59 with specified Co-morbidities.

He said this time the registration Counter and help desks for Covid vaccination has been introduced in Block Diwas at all designated locations in Pulwama

During the Public hearing various delegations, individuals, deputations from Panchayats apprised the ADC about the issues pertaining to the different departments. The delegations also raised the issues regarding the provision of various services like revenue extracts, domicile certificates, caste certificates, dependency certificates, registration for various individual benefit schemes including Social Security schemes, Old age pensions, handicap pensions, scholarships and submitted memorandum of demands pertaining to their respective Panchayat Halqas

The ADC gave patient hearing to the public and assured timely redressal of the genuine grievances, whereas on spot directions were also passed for the redressal of the genuine demands raised by the people.

Block Divas was also held in block Tral and Pampore where detailed discussion was held regarding different developmental projects besides issues being faced by the common masses of different panchayats.

The ADC Tral and ADC Awantipora besides other district and sectoral officers listened to the demands and issues of the people. On the occasion, many grievances were solved on the spot and rests were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt redress through an established tracking system.

At Shopian: The Block Diwas was today organized with great enthusiasm at Gagron Shopian in which a large number of people from various far-flung areas of the district participated and raised various issues and demands pertaining to their respective areas.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, presided over the grievance redressal camp and listened to people patiently. He redressed hundreds of grievances on spot and said that the genuine demands and issues raised so far shall be fulfilled on priority.

On the occasion, DDC appealed to people to become active participants and come forward so that the issues of daily importance are redressed in the minimum possible time and at an earliest.

He also directed the concerned officers to be proactive and remain accessible to the people so that the purpose of the initiative is fulfilled in letter and spirit.

Assistant Commissioner, Development, Tehsildar Shopian, District Social Welfare Officer, District Panchayat Officer, other concerned officers and officials of various departments besides a huge number of people participated in this Block Diwas programme.

At Kupwara: The District Administration Kupwara today conducted Block Divas programme at Kupwara and Sogam, besides other block headquarters of the district.

At Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mehraj-u-din Shah presided over the function. While BDC Chairperson, Haseena Begum, PRIs and Officers and general public attended the function.

The BDC Chairperson and PRIs projected demands of their respective areas with regard to developmental issues including release of pending payments of MGNREGA works, allocation of new works under 14th F.C and other schemes.

On the occasion, the officers gave awareness to the people about various developmental and welfare schemes of their concerned departments.

At Sogam, the Block Divas was held at Block Office Sogam which was chaired by the BDC Chairperson.

On the occasion, participants registered their developmental issues. The concerned officers provided awareness about the various government schemes and initiatives for the welfare of the people.

Block Divas was also held in various blocks of the district.

At Kulgam: The District Administration Kulgam today organized Mega Block Diwas at 3 blocks viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora of the district to take appraisal of the public issues, grievances and demands.

Officers and officials from line departments listened to issues, grievances and demand of the people for timely redressal at all the three venues.

Meanwhile to take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands blocks divas was also held at Townhall Kulgam where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat presided over the function and listened to the issues and grievances of public for redressal.

People from Qaimoo, Pombay, Frisal Kulgam, Behibagh and other areas participated in the programme and apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various issues and put forth various demands for redressal.

Scores of issues and grievances were also redressed onspot by the Deputy Commissioner.

The DC directed the officers to adopt a robust approach to mitigate public grievances and stand available for the public at all levels.

The programme was attended by District Development Council Chairperson, Mohammad Afzal, Block Development Chairperson Kulgam, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Officers, Tehsildar, BMO, BDO’s and other officers.

Later Prosthetic aids and various certificates were also distributed among the beneficiaries.
