Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights organised by the Training and Placement Cell of the University Women’s Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University

Aligarh: Resource persons discussed the vital role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in encouraging innovation and creativity during the workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights in Innovation and Research’ IPRIR-2021 organised by the Training and Placement Cell of the University Women’s Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Dr Salma Shaheen (Principal, University Women’s Polytechnic) deliberated IPR as the key for economic growth stimulation.

In the welcome address, she also pointed out that since creativity and innovation have become the new essential new drivers of the economy, IPR has a major part to play for enhancing the socio-economic prosperity.

Mohd Imran (Assistant Professor, Z H College of Engineering and Technology) explained how IPR protects the trade secrets related to new inventions, innovations and advertising strategies.

He discussed the procedures of filing patents and registration of work under the copyright Act 1957.

Dr Jahangir Alam (Training and Placement Officer, University Women’s Polytechnic) said that IPR awareness is necessary to make people understand legal ways for filing their patents.

Tariq Ahmed (Programme Coordinator) urged the students to make the best use of facilities available in the University for documenting their ideas and innovations. He also extended the vote of thanks.

Atifa Aqeel (Organizing Secretary) conducted the programme.

Over 98 students participated in the workshop.
