Educated girls taking nation to higher level of excellence and achievement: DC Budgam

 

Budgam: A daylong program on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao theme was organized today at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall here with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC threw light on the role of education in empowerment of the girl child. He said education is critical for socio-economic upliftment of girls and in this regard the Education Department is an important stakeholder in achieving the desired aim and objectives of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao program.

The positive mindset, behavioral change and attitude towards education comes from School and homes as two most important institutions, parents and teachers have to play vital roles in this direction, the DC Added.

The DC further said that Education is an ornament in the time of adversity; Education empowers one to fight injustice and avail rights. Girls are the important and integral part of our society as they take up the role of daughter, sister and mother in society, he added.

He said today girls outshine boys in education and are grabbing every positive opportunity coming their way. This approach should be continued by girls without any signs of fatigue, the DC said. He stressed that educated girls contribute in taking the nation to the higher level of excellence and achievement.

The DC congratulated CEO Budgam for conducting a program on BBBP with an objective to promote girl education with more passion and enthusiasm.

The CEO Budgam, Syed Mohammad Amin said that all Principals as Head of their respective institutions should conduct programs under BBBP on a regular basis to give impetus to girl education. He also revealed in the program that 8 KGBVs specifically meant for girl education are functional in the district while eight 100 bedded hostels for girls are also under construction.

During the program, various cultural programs were showcased highlighting the importance of girl education.

On the occasion, 10 Girl students from 10th and 12th standard were felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 5000/- as a token of appreciation. Insha Bashir, a specially abled girl, a BasketBall Champion who has represented India at USA also spoke about the significance of girl education.

Among others, the program was attended by ADC Budgam, CEO, ACD, DDEO, DEPO, Principals of educational institutions, teachers and massive gathering of girl students.
