ICMR selects AMU faculty members to guide research associates
Aligarh: In acknowledgement of academic calibre and research acumen; the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has chosen two Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty members, Dr Riaz Ahmad and Dr Hifzur R Siddiqui to mentor and guide research associates on designated research projects.
Dr Riaz Ahmad (Associate Professor) will supervise Dr Tehreem Sahar in the work on the thesis, ‘Proteomics and Metabolomics Profiling Revealing Biomarkers in Uterine Leiomyoma’ and Dr Hifzur R Siddiqui (Assistant Professor) will guide Dr Tanushree Debbarman in the research on ‘Epigenetic Modulation in Onsulin Promoter Region and Associated Growth Factors in Diabetic Neuropathy and Pancreatic Cancers.’
Dr Riaz and Dr Hifzur will receive a grant of 20 lakhs each that includes fellowship and contingent grant of the selected research associates to work on projects.
“It is expected that the outcome of these researches will boost early diagnosis of the pathologies as well the novel therapeutic approaches,” said Dr Riaz and Dr Hifzur.
