Central University of Punjab organized Webinar on ‘Atma-Nirbhar Bharat and Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’

Bathinda: On 130th Birth Anniversary of Nation Builder Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Central University of Punjab organized a Webinar on ‘Atma-Nirbhar Bharat and Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’. The programme was conducted under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Rahavendra P. Tiwari. The keynote speaker of this Webinar was Prof. Sushma Yadav, Vice Chancellor, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishvidyalaya, Sonepat, Haryana.

The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Vinod Arya, programme coordinator, where he mentioned that Babasaheb Ambedkar was the Nation Builder, Father of Indian Constitution, acclaimed economist, legendary statesman and a great social & political reformer. He discussed the programme theme and introduced the keynote speaker to the participants.

Prof. Sushma Yadav in her keynote address put a light on the Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Academic Career. She shared that Dr. Ambedkar was a scholar of Law, Economics, Political Science, History, Sociology and Anthropology subjects. She added that and he gave the concept of socio-economic equality and justice for all for the new India. She stressed that Babasaheb fought throughout his life for the self-representation mechanism of every citizen and specifically for rights of the marginalized communities. As a chairperson of Constitution Drafting Committee, Dr. Ambedkar provided the best constitution to the new India that provides democratic government and wide range of civil liberties to the citizens of India.

Keynote Speaker Prof. Sushma Yadav emphasized that the concept of ‘Atma-Nirbhar Bharat’ envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is the extension to the realization of the dream of Babasaheb Ambedkar to build a nation where everyone is self-dependent and not self-centric. She highlighted that to realize this dream our nation will have to undergo incremental change in building infrastructure, developing indigenous technology, shaping skilled vibrant demography, utilizing demand and production equation, and generating liquidity. She shared various government schemes targeted towards making a Self-Reliant India which are conceptualized on the ideology of Babasaheb Ambedkar i.e. Equality, Social Justice, Liberty, Fraternity and Mobility. She asserted that the contributions of Babasaheb Ambedkar will play a pivotal role in making India a powerful nation where citizens with scientific temperament will be connected to the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah.

In his presidential remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari stated that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a great humanist who put forward significant thoughts of democracy, equality, dignity, and social justice. He pointed out that vision of Social and Economic Equality can be achieved when we minimize all inequalities and build an ecosystem of rational thinking and disruptive technology. Prof. Tiwari also highlighted that we should work for building more integrated & cohesive society for the nation building. He expressed that the best tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar is to follow his ideas, respect everyone’s right and work towards making our country self-enlightened i.e. Prabudh Bharat.

Towards the end, Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics, gave the formal vote of thanks. CUPB faculty, staff, scholars, students, and persons from across the country different institutions virtually attended this programme.
