“In the footsteps of the rune singers”: in the jury of the competition of national costumes

The Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of PetrSU became a partner of the IV ethnocultural festival of students of educational institutions and institutions of additional education of the Medvezhyegorsk municipal district “In the footsteps of rune singers”.
The year 2021 is declared in Karelia as the Year of the Karelian runes. Within its framework, in Medvezhyegorsk, the IV ethnocultural festival of students of general educational institutions of the region “In the footsteps of the rune singers” was organized and held, prepared by the A. Fanyagin Medvezhyegorsk Secondary School and the Medvezhyegorsk Children’s Art House. One of the partners of the festival was the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology, whose teachers and undergraduates were invited to act as members of the jury in the competition of national costumes.

For the first time, a defile of Karelian costumes took place at the festival. The collection was presented by teachers and pupils of the House of Children’s Creativity in Medvezhyegorsk, and was prepared by the director of the House of Children’s Creativity S.P. Mokretsova, teacher of history at Medvezhyegorsk school No. 3 I.S. Pshenova, teacher of technology at A. Fanyagin secondary school L.N. Palkhanov.

Many costumes from this collection took part in the correspondence competition of national costumes. The jury members of this competition included the head of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of PetrSU T.V. Pashkova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of PetrSU S.V. Korobeinikova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of PetrSU E.V. Karakin, 2nd year undergraduates of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of PetrSU A. Turkina and T. Makarova.

The jury members got acquainted with the photographs of national costumes presented by the schoolchildren for the competition with great interest, and as the winners they chose the costumes that most corresponded to those that existed in Karelia in different periods of time. The seats were distributed as follows:

1st place: Zaonezhsky costume. Meeting 2. (P. Klev, N. Kuleznev)
2nd place: Zaonezhskaya square dance (Yu. Kozlovskaya)
2nd place: Karelian costume. Girlfriends (K. Khlystova, E. Shulga)

Within the framework of the festival, several contests were held: the drawing contest “Heroes of Kalevala”, the video contest “Karelian rune singers, the quiz” Dedicated to the Year of Karelian runes “, etc.

The Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology hopes for further cooperation with educational institutions and institutions of additional education in Medvezhyegorsk region.
