NSDC conducts week long Capacity Building workshops in Bhubaneswar For India Skills Competition 2018
Participants to get a chance to represent India at the WorldSkills International Competitions
NSDC will conduct multiple capacity building workshops for the India Skills competition, across multiple locations in Bhubaneshwar from the 8th to 15th March. Workshops on hospitality management will be held at the Institute of Hotel Management while workshops focused on welding, milling and other industrial skills will take place at the Central Tool Room & Training Center (CTTC).
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is organizing these workshops in 20 States to raise awareness for the India Skills Competition 2018 as well as to provide organizers, local industry, academia, trainers and potential competitors a detailed understanding of preparation for and conduct of skill competitions. The winner of India Skills 2018 will get an opportunity to participate in the WorldSkills Competition to be held in Russia in 2019.India Skills Competition is India’s first national skills competition and an initiative of the NSDC. Through its initiative, NSDC has been leading the country’s participation at WorldSkills International competitions since 2011. It is a biennial competition which provides a platform where youths can display their skills with utmost perfection and make India proud.
The aim of the workshop is to give a technical orientation for the IndiaSkills competitions set to begin in March 2018 in the 20 participating States. 20 States have partnered to conduct state level skills competition which when completed would lead to regional and national competition. The workshop will focus on the following points:
1. Technical Description of the Skill
2. Assessment Norms
3. Test Projects
4. How to conduct the competition.
Previous participants of WorldSkills India in collaboration with NSDC and other experts will draw on their own experience to better prepare the new participants for what is in store for them.
Any skilled person born on or after 1st January 1997 could participate in any of the skills with the exception to Aircraft Maintenance, Manufacturing Team Challenge and Mechatronics, where the candidate should have been born on or after 1st January 1994.
The various categories in which youths can showcase their talent are as follows: Brick Laying, Wall& Floor Tiling, Electronics, Welding, Web Designing, Graphic Designing, Beauty Therapy, Cooking, IT Software Solution for business, etc.
A registration portal will be opened for participating in IndiaSkills Competitions in partnership with state governments. The state governments will be conducting district and local competitions in each state to select the best skilled person from their respective states. The state champions will be called for regional competitions where they will be showcasing their skills in that particular region. After the regional competitions, the top scorer will make it to the IndiaSkills Competitions i.e National Competitions.
