Kolkata student, Ratnadeep Chakrabarty bags full scholarship at Kautilya School of Public Policy
Hyderabad: Scholarships in academics are one way to open doors to a hopeful future. Mr. Ratnadeep Chakraborty from Kolkata is one such student who has bagged the first full scholarship at the Kautilya School of Public Policy, Hyderabad, where his dream of studying a master’s Program in Public Policy (MPP) has come into fruition. The need-based scholarship developed on the principles of outstanding academic achievement and a student’s ability to portray progressive change to the field of study allows public policy enthusiasts to learn what it takes to be tomorrow’s policy leaders. Through this opportunity Mr. Chakraborty strives to bring a new dialogue, bridge gaps between people and policy and set an example among those who aspire to educate themselves in this spectrum.
Following the same fate as thousands of students bearing the brunt of the pandemic, Mr. Chakraborty, graduating from journalism school decided to put his dream of pursuing masters abroad on hold. Undeterred by the casualties that were unfolding, he subsequently secured a fellowship at the Citizens for Public Policy Leadership (CPL) in 2020 where he found his calling- an inclination towards public policy, especially foreign policy, and security studies. Recognizing his strong understanding of the Indian policy, Mr. Prateek Kanwal, Co-founder, Kautilya School of Public Policy and Founder- CPL, guided Mr. Chakraborty to enroll him in the two-year MPP program at Kautilya School of Public Policy.
Mr. Prateek Kanwal, Co-founder, Kautilya School of Public Policy, said, “Public policy is a challenging space where the mind is constantly confronted with challenges at the forefront. We are glad to have students like Ratnadeep Chakborty on board who has shown will power and academic rigor even in times of the pandemic. Creating an environment where policy education is accessible to all is important to us and at Kautilya we aim to create the best out of our students.”
Speaking about the tuition waiver, Mr. Ratnadeep Chakraborty said, “India is equipped with faculties on par with those from Ivy leagues. Educating oneself in public policy brings a sense of responsibility and service to society on a large scale. With young minds yearning for quality education and a place that will shape them to be fearless in challenging issues, this is a time where policy matters more than anything. I sincerely thank those who have helped me achieve this feat and look forward to contributing to not only addressing challenges in the policy sector but bringing to the table, solutions that serve society in the long run.”
While many would pursue their education abroad, finding adequate resources remains a difficult question. Mr. Chakraborty, for one, believes that there are methods to carve your space into a competitive and demanding field such as this where the country has developed to the point of offering the finest education tools available to churn some of the best policy leaders of tomorrow. Policy making can only be attempted if one is ready to solve some of the country’s most complex challenges of the 21st century and taking a step of equipping oneself with education that calls for practical and logical application, will allow students such as himself to distinguish themselves in terms of valuable learning and growth.
Kautilya School of Public Policy offers need-based scholarships for deserving candidates. In its first year, the institute aims to award scholarships to the extent of 30% of cohort revenues to encourage a diverse group of high-potential candidates.
