Jal Shakti Abhiyan : DYSS Kishtwar hosts pledge taking ceremony

Kishtwar: A pledge taking ceremony on Jal Shakti Abhiyan was today organised by the Department of District Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar under the overall supervision of District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma and under the guidance of DYSSO, Kharati Lal Sharma.

Apart from the activity calendar, the pledge taking ceremony is being organised by the department at different zones of Kishtwar on the direction of Director General Youth Services & Sports, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman,.

The Jal Shakti campaign was launched as a Jan Andolan (Catch the Rain) by the Prime Minister on 22nd March 2021.

The campaign to save water will be launched across the District in rural and urban landscapes with the theme, *“catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls”.*

The cheap trip of the campaign is spreading awareness and implementation of the rainwater harvesting system.

After the pledge ceremony, the speakers at their respective zones informed the participants regarding the campaign which aims to reach the grassroots level through people’s participation. It is intended to nudge all stakeholders to harvest rainwater by creating structures suitable to the climatic conditions and subsoil strata for proper storage of water.
