Refugee Law Clinic short-listed for pro bono prize
The LawWorks and Attorney General Student Awards 2021, which take place on May 12th, have shortlisted the Clinic for 'Best new pro bono activity'.
The University of London’s pro bono Refugee Law Clinic (RLC) helps asylum seekers with fresh claims and is ‘staffed’ by volunteer law students from 10 Member Institutions including UCL, King’s College London and LSE, alongside volunteer lawyers.
The LawWorks and Attorney General Student Awards 2021 have shortlisted University of London Refugee Law Clinic for Best new pro bono activity.
The awards will be celebrated at an online ceremony from 5.00pm on Wednesday 12th May. Anyone can register to watch the ceremony(Opens in new window).
The awards, run by LawWorks with the support of the Attorney General, The Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, recognise and celebrate the outstanding pro bono work undertaken by law schools and law students across the UK.
RLC Supervising Lawyer, Frances Trevena, said: ““We are thrilled that the clinic has been shortlisted for the award. The students and volunteer lawyers from our two partners, Macfarlanes and Clifford Chance have worked incredibly hard over the last year in difficult circumstances to assist very vulnerable individuals stuck in limbo to resolve their asylum cases.”
