RWTH Aachen University: RWTH Professor Dr. Franziska Schoenebeck receives Klung Wilhelmy Science Prize for Chemistry 2020

RWTH Professor Dr. Franziska Schoenebeck receives the Klung Wilhelmy Science Prize for Chemistry 2020. This is awarded under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Education and Research Anja Karliczek and is one of the most prestigious scientific awards. Every year, outstanding young German scientists in chemistry and physics are honored.

Schoenebeck studied chemistry in Berlin and Glasgow. After completing her doctorate at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, she worked at the University of California and ETH Zurich. In 2013 she came to RWTH Aachen University with the “Program to Promote the Return of Highly Qualified Young Researchers from Abroad” of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and since 2016 Schoenebeck has held the Chair of Organic Chemistry I at the Aachen University.

The chemist has been awarded numerous prizes and grants, such as an ERC Starting Grant, an ERC Consolidator Grant, the ORCHEM Prize of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker eV and the Lecturer Prize of the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie. The Volkswagen Foundation also funded the research work of the Aachen professor.
