Amity University Gurugram Hosted The National & Asia Record Half Marathon Event – “EME Ultra Run”
Gurugram : Amity University Gurugram hosted the National & Asia Record Half Marathon “EME ULTRA RUN” (49th Day), an initiative taken by Indian Army on spreading the cause and importance of healthy (complete fitness: run and yoga), clean (Swachh Bharat), green (tree plantation), pollution free (safe environment) so as to make happy India.
Corps of EME (Electronics and Mechanical Engineers) organized an event ‘EME Ultra Run’ in which a team of 10 members is to run 21kms everyday for 50 days. Once accomplished it will be unique national and asian record.
“The event ‘EME 50 days 50 half marathon runs’ started on 1st Feb, 2018 and spread the cause of happy, healthy, clean, green and pollution free India. The 49th day of half marathon finished today on 21st March 2018 at Amity University Gurugram campus followed by a yoga session, and the last day (50th day) will be finished tomorrow at India Gate, New Delhi. The team visited 4 universities, 12 colleges, 18 schools and spread the message to around 26,000 students about health, environment and yoga”, informed Lt. Col. Vishal Ahlawat (Mt Everest Summiter, 2016, National Record Creator for cycling from Leh to Kanyakumari etc).
“Our team of ten (two officers and eight soldiers of Indian army) is of unique achievers. Team is a mix of members, who has to their credit success climb of Mount Everest, international white water rafting competitions, hot air ballooning, Iron Man and various other achievements. The team promoted the importance of complete fitness through running and yoga” said Lt. Col Ahlawat.
“Yoga is one unique and precious gift from our Country to the World. This team aimed to reach out to the youth of our Country to generate interest about Yoga. The idea of hosting the marathon of ‘EME 50 Days 50 Half Marathon Running Expedition’ was to encourage youth and local population to join Indian Army”, said Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd.), DSW, Amity University Gurugram.
The EME team also participated in the Amity Gurugram Marathon on 18th Feb, 2018 in which around 18,000 people were present in the event. Amity encourages the importance of running and also helps social organizations to take their causes to the masses for fund raising. This is yet another initiative by Amity towards nation building through sports.
EME Team successfully completed its penultimate run on 49th day at Amity University, Gurugram. It was flagged off from Hero Honda Chowk at 0600hrs and terminated at the University complex. The students also graced the event by joining and running with the team at the final leg of the marathon followed by a yoga session mentored by Yoga Instructor from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH. A joint tree plantation was conducted by the EME team and Amity University Gurugram students. The event concluded with the EME team of marathon runners interacting with the students.
The team of ten is led by Lt Col Vishal Ahlawat and participants are : Maj Sandeep Kumar, Hav Anantha Krishnan, Hav Prassana Mohapatra, Hav Sanjay Kumar, Nk Bidyut Mohan, Sep Ravi Kumar, Cfn SP Singh, Cfn D Vinay, Sep Nagare Vinod.
Major Sandeep, Iron Man Finisher, Para motor pilot, para jumper while interacting said, “We are trying to aware our youth to participate and help in building our country on a clean, healthy and pollution free nation. It is an honor to represent Indian Army and I saw students are so much excited and asking about our experiences in the forces.”
Hav Prasanna Mohapatra, National Record creator for cycling from Leh to Kanyakumari (Limca Book Records, finished in 18 days), International Level White Water Rafter and National Record holder while interacting said, “It is an opportunity which you won’t get easily. I am glad that I am the member of this team and we are heading to make the record tomorrow.”
Nk Bidyut Mohan while interacting said, “We are trying to participate in marathon events especially near Delhi/NCR as much as we can because the area around NCR is most affected from pollution. We are trying to aware the people to do yoga and take proper care of the health and environment.”
Physiotherapist Sep Pradeep Hooda said, the team fitness throughout the beginning is superb. It is our motive to aware as much people as we can about the fitness.
